Carpet or ground cover roses are a variety which grow low to the ground and spread, to form a tough but beautiful mat of low glossy green foliage and beautiful flowers. They have the benefit of suppressing weeds as well as being disease resistant and flowing for a large part of the year. Carpet roses are a good solution for a very low growing compact rose when planted on their own, a great continuous low growing flowering border, or a high-impact, low maintenance mass planting that will cover a large area and look good all year round.

One point of confusion is that the hardy and beautiful carpet rose can also be grafted onto a tall, straight stem to form a “standard” (ball on a stick) or even a weeping rose. You will find these in the Standard Roses or Standard Weeping Roses categories, when they are available.
