Callistemon Matthew Flinders is a result of hybridisation between Callistemon Captain Cook and Callistemon Little John, inheriting the compact, dwarf growth form of Little John along with the foliage of Captain Cook. In spring and autumn, this evergreen shrub produces clusters of vibrant red bottlebrush flowers. A great choice for any garden or landscape, it attracts birds and offers various landscaping options such as screening, hedging, rockeries, low-maintenance setups, and small native gardens.
Callistemon flourish in bright sunlight and well-drained soil. These resilient and versatile shrubs can endure very poor soil conditions and can cope with prolonged water-logging. They also resist moderate coastal exposure and can survive brief periods of drought.
