Sambucus Canadensis “Elderberry”
Elderberry is a small deciduous shrub whose berries are great for making wine. This variety is also grown as an ornamental plant in the garden and are frost tolerant. Full sun and a well drained humus rich soil will provide the best results. A deciduous shrub growing 3m or more. The berries and flowers are edible, but other parts of the plant are poisonous, containing toxic calcium oxalate crystals! They are butterfly attracting.
