Solanum ‘Tamarillo’ Red 3″ Pot

Red Tamarillo produces fruit that is petite and teardrop shaped with a glossy smooth cranberry coloured skin and flesh containing small soft edible seeds. The skin is thin and far too bitter to be eaten. Its flesh, though, when ripe, is bright, sweet-tart and piquant in flavour. Prefers a sheltered spot with well drained soil.

Red Tamarillo are very quick growing and will crop in 18mths reaching a height of 2-3 meters. They require well drained soil and are sensitive to wind and frost.
