Banksia Saw Tooth

Banksia serrata, Old Man Banksia

The Saw Tooth Banksia is a widespread species in eastern Australia, and may reach 10 metres in height if placed in ideal conditions. It has thick rough bark which allows it to regenerate after bush fires. Saw Tooth Banksias produce flowers that are about 10cm wide by about 12cm long and are usually cream in colour and are followed by seed cones. The leaves are large and stiff with serrated edges.
